How Do I Know Which Essential Oil to Use? Have a Zyto Compass Scan!

Sometimes we know what essential oil or blend to use—whether through research, someone’s suggestion, or because it worked for a past issue. Plus, we all have our favorites that we may use almost every day.

Another way to tune in to exactly what your body needs is by having a Zyto Compass Scan. This painless, non-invasive scan is a form of bio-feedback. After placing your hand on the module, the program scans your energy field to pinpoint where you are out of balance. It then "asks" your body which oils, blends, or other Young Living products will help bring these areas back into balance. A report is generated showing the information and includes a brief description of the items selected. It is best to have a scan about every three months.

Try it! You may be missing out on something very good for you because you've never thought of it. I provide this service at my office in Cary, NC. To schedule a scan, contact me at 919-270-5868 or joycepstephens@gmail.com.

Flavoring Water with Young Living Essential Oils

Since it's April, I'm sticking with a water theme.

I find it easy to drink lots of water. My body is very accustomed to it, so I don't have to think about it—I want it. It helps that my drinking water at home tastes great due to the reverse osmosis system I had installed in the kitchen (To install your own system, I highly recommend Gene Smelik at Kinetico, 919-772-4488 or http://www.kineticonc.com/). I keep a glass pitcher filled with clean, fresh water in the fridge at all times.

I have friends, however, who prefer flavored water. I am not a fan of the bottles you can buy, which have too many strange ingredients for me. You can easily create your own flavored water by adding Young Living essential oils. In addition to tasting great, the oils are good for you and counteract the chemicals in tap water, such as chlorine and fluoride.

Try Fennel, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Ocotea, Orange, Peppermint, Spearmint, and Tangerine—or CitrusFresh and SliqueEssence blends. Simply add 1-2 drops to a glass of water. (If you are adding to water in a plastic bottle, do not reuse the bottle.)

Have fun creating your own healthy flavored water!

(Please use only Young Living essential oils due to their purity; I cannot vouch for other brands.)

Enhancing Young Living Essential Oils with the Vita Flex Technique

Vita Flex, which means “vitality through the reflexes,” is a very simple method to enhance the effects of your essential oils.

Vita Flex is thought to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, and Stanley Burroughs perfected the method in the 1960's. The effects are similar to acupuncture.

It uses reflex points on the hands and feet (see diagrams below) to stimulate the corresponding internal body systems and organs. The oils are applied to the contact points, and energy is released through electrical impulses by contact between the fingertips and the reflex points.

Unlike Reflexology, Vita Flex uses a rolling and releasing motion, with medium pressure. Place four fingers on the skin, rolling onto the tips, and then to the nail. Repeat three times; This creates the electrical impulse.

Combine this technique with 1-2 drops of essential oil applied to the specific area on the foot or hand that corresponds to the organ or system of the body you wish to support.

Expect enhanced results!

Cabin Fever and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

This winter has been rough in the Raleigh area. We've had more cold weather, snow and ice than usual – which means we've been cooped up more than usual.

I'm feeling a case of Cabin Fever today. Due to snow and ice this week, I've been inside much longer than I like. I also get a little ‘strange’ when there is no sun for a couple of days.

As always, I turn to my Young Living essential oils for help:

·         Citrus oils and blends are uplifting and energizing! Try Lemon, Grapefruit, Hinoki, Lime, Orange, Tangerine and blends such as CitrusFresh and StressAway.

·         Florals offer emotional support. Some of my favorites are YlangYlang, Geranium, Jasmine, Neroli, Rose, and Joy or Harmony blends.

·         If sleep is an issue, try Lavender or RomanChamomile, or Peace& Calming, RutaVaLa and Tranquil blends.

If you suffer from SAD, try some of the oils I've mentioned. Use light therapy and get outside for at least a little while every day. Add foods high in tryptophan to your diet, such as turkey and egg whites. Many fruits raise serotonin levels. Be sure to get a good night's sleep. If it gets too bad, take a vacation to somewhere warm and sunny. (Apparently people who live close to the equator don't have SAD.)

I'm off to reset my diffuser with one of these uplifting oils! So looking forward to spring!!

Thieves can keep you healthy this winter!

Young Living ‘Thieves’ Product Line

Everyone wonders about the name, "Thieves." The ThievesEssential Oil blend formula is based on aromatics used by four thieves in France to protect themselves from the Black Plague while they robbed the bodies of those who had died from the disease. In exchange for their recipe, they received a lighter sentence for their crimes.

Young Living's proprietary blend includes clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and Eucalyptus Radiata. It is very effective against airborne bacteria and has been universally tested.1

The line now includes several plant-based products. There are toothpastes, mouthwash, and dentalfloss for oral hygiene. There are soaps, both bar and foaming, and a waterlesshand cleaner. For cleaning, there is a concentrated householdcleaner, a ready-to-use spray, and wipes. You can even get lozenges, in hard or soft formulations.

The Thieves formula is the basis of InnerDefense capsules, with added oregano, thyme, and lemongrass essential oils for even more anti-microbial effectiveness.

This is a wonderful line to introduce into your home and a great addition to your germ-fighting arsenal this time of year!

Gratitude

November reminds us to be "thankful," but we should really try to stay in a state of gratitude at all times.

Think about "The Secret," and "The Law ofAttraction." These principles stress the importance of 1) how powerful our thoughts are and how we create what we think and believe; and 2) that when we believe and are thankful for what we want, we help to manifest it – even before it has come into our life! Athletes use these principles when they visualize themselves doing everything "right" and winning the big game. So whatever you want in your life, be thankful for it already and cultivate the feeling of already having it.

I enjoy sharing Young Living Essential Oils that correspond to my blog subject. Yes, there is a blend called Gratitude! I also like these: Abundance, Awaken, Believe, DreamCatcher, Envision, MagnifyYour Purpose, Motivation, Surrender, Oola Balance and Grow.

Maybe one of these oils can provide the necessary boost to help you achieve your dreams, too!
