Aromatherapy: Using Essential Oils for Emotional Issues

Essential oils can be of great assistance when we are trying to move beyond emotional barriers.  The aldehydes and esters – two of the many chemical constituents of certain essential oils calm and soothe the central nervous system (both the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems).  These substances allow us to relax instead of letting anxiety build up in our body.  Anxiety creates an acidic condition that activates the transcript enzyme, which then transcribes that anxiety on the RNA template and stores it in the DNA.  That emotion then becomes a predominant factor in our lives from that moment on.

Because essential oils also affect the amygdala and pineal gland in the brain, they can help the mind and body by releasing emotional trauma and sharpening focus.

Instead of being overwhelmed by an emotionally charged situation, use essential oils by diffusing, adding them to a bath, or wearing like cologne.

For clients with very deep issues, I use Young Living essential oils coupled with procedures from "Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils," by Carolyn L. Mein, D.C.

Dr. D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living Essential Oils, has created many blends that can help with emotional issues.  Here are a few suggestions:

Valor – anger, anxiety, depression, despair, grief/sorrow, guilt, jealousy, shock
Joy – depression, despair, shock
Clarity – confusion
Envision – depression
Magnify Your Purpose – grief/sorrow, guilt
Forgiveness – anger, despair, jealousy, resentment
White Angelica – abuse, anger, fear, jealousy, panic, resentment

If you are struggling to resolve old or recent issues, contact me to schedule a consultation.

Aromatherapy: Why are Pure Essential Oils so Crucial?

Like most things in life, all essential oils are not created equal. Many are watered down, cut, or even artificial imitations. They may smell nice, but they cannot deliver the healing possibilities that come from true, authentic essential oils; with pure oils, the healing abilities are simply amazing.

The only essential oils I use on myself and my clients are from Young Living. Their "Seed to Seal" process ensures that only the highest-quality essential oils from around the world are used in the final product. Briefly, this means the company authenticates quality at each stage of the production process by verifying plant species, growing and cultivating plants carefully, properly distilling the pure plant essence, testing to verify the optimal level of constituents, and expertly bottling the final product. No other company in the world invests as much research, innovation, quality, and personnel in their products.

To be sure you are using the best oils available, ask a few questions of the manufacturer: How do they verify source, authenticity, and proper preparation? Who oversees the manufacturing process, and what is their expertise? Does the company have firsthand knowledge of each part of the supply chain? How long have they been in business? Have they invested in their own facilities, farms, distillation, manufacturing, and laboratories? If the answer to any of your questions only leaves you with more questions, maybe it’s time to investigate another supplier.

If you'd like to learn more about why and how Young Living has the purest oils available, please take a few moments to watch this video.

Aromatherapy
Part 2: Raindrop Technique

{Note: It cannot be emphasized enough that only pure, therapeutic-grade oils are used. I use only Young Living Essential Oils in my practice because the purity and quality are impeccable.}

Having a Raindrop Technique Aromatherapy Massage is a wonderful introduction to Aromatherapy! The Raindrop Technique is a truly remarkable procedure that combines a variety of energy medicine and natural modalities. Developed by D. Gary Young, ND & DOC* in the 1980s, it includes the use of several anti-bacterial essential oils (both as aromatics and as direct topical agents),   a series of specific techniques along the spinal muscles and feet, and the application of moist heat. Since its development, it has brought relief to thousands suffering from chronic back pain. Studies continue to support and verify the principles upon which the Raindrop Technique is based. It not only helps heal the spine, but it also benefits other body systems, including the mental and emotional functions of the brain.

In addition to pain reduction, the many benefits include reduced inflammation, improved circulation, stress relief, improved immune function, and the release of pent-up negative emotions. It can also help prevent the bacterial and viral causes of spinal misalignment, including scoliosis and kyphosis.

To address other health issues, the Raindrop Technique can be customized by substituting standard Raindrop Technique essential oils with other oils that specifically target the relevant issue. In addition to physical issues, emotional issues can be addressed by changing the oils used.

The benefits of the Raindrop Technique go well beyond the physical benefits of massage. It can help improve every aspect of life – physical, mental, and emotional – often relieving a variety of issues in a single treatment. Not only does it help relieve pain and restore physical well-being, it can also set in motion healing processes that will last for weeks or even months.
