Enhancing Young Living Essential Oils with the Vita Flex Technique

Vita Flex, which means “vitality through the reflexes,” is a very simple method to enhance the effects of your essential oils.

Vita Flex is thought to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, and Stanley Burroughs perfected the method in the 1960's. The effects are similar to acupuncture.

It uses reflex points on the hands and feet (see diagrams below) to stimulate the corresponding internal body systems and organs. The oils are applied to the contact points, and energy is released through electrical impulses by contact between the fingertips and the reflex points.

Unlike Reflexology, Vita Flex uses a rolling and releasing motion, with medium pressure. Place four fingers on the skin, rolling onto the tips, and then to the nail. Repeat three times; This creates the electrical impulse.

Combine this technique with 1-2 drops of essential oil applied to the specific area on the foot or hand that corresponds to the organ or system of the body you wish to support.

Expect enhanced results!

Cabin Fever and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

This winter has been rough in the Raleigh area. We've had more cold weather, snow and ice than usual – which means we've been cooped up more than usual.

I'm feeling a case of Cabin Fever today. Due to snow and ice this week, I've been inside much longer than I like. I also get a little ‘strange’ when there is no sun for a couple of days.

As always, I turn to my Young Living essential oils for help:

·         Citrus oils and blends are uplifting and energizing! Try Lemon, Grapefruit, Hinoki, Lime, Orange, Tangerine and blends such as CitrusFresh and StressAway.

·         Florals offer emotional support. Some of my favorites are YlangYlang, Geranium, Jasmine, Neroli, Rose, and Joy or Harmony blends.

·         If sleep is an issue, try Lavender or RomanChamomile, or Peace& Calming, RutaVaLa and Tranquil blends.

If you suffer from SAD, try some of the oils I've mentioned. Use light therapy and get outside for at least a little while every day. Add foods high in tryptophan to your diet, such as turkey and egg whites. Many fruits raise serotonin levels. Be sure to get a good night's sleep. If it gets too bad, take a vacation to somewhere warm and sunny. (Apparently people who live close to the equator don't have SAD.)

I'm off to reset my diffuser with one of these uplifting oils! So looking forward to spring!!

Thieves can keep you healthy this winter!

Young Living ‘Thieves’ Product Line

Everyone wonders about the name, "Thieves." The ThievesEssential Oil blend formula is based on aromatics used by four thieves in France to protect themselves from the Black Plague while they robbed the bodies of those who had died from the disease. In exchange for their recipe, they received a lighter sentence for their crimes.

Young Living's proprietary blend includes clove, cinnamon bark, rosemary, lemon, and Eucalyptus Radiata. It is very effective against airborne bacteria and has been universally tested.1

The line now includes several plant-based products. There are toothpastes, mouthwash, and dentalfloss for oral hygiene. There are soaps, both bar and foaming, and a waterlesshand cleaner. For cleaning, there is a concentrated householdcleaner, a ready-to-use spray, and wipes. You can even get lozenges, in hard or soft formulations.

The Thieves formula is the basis of InnerDefense capsules, with added oregano, thyme, and lemongrass essential oils for even more anti-microbial effectiveness.

This is a wonderful line to introduce into your home and a great addition to your germ-fighting arsenal this time of year!

Gratitude

November reminds us to be "thankful," but we should really try to stay in a state of gratitude at all times.

Think about "The Secret," and "The Law ofAttraction." These principles stress the importance of 1) how powerful our thoughts are and how we create what we think and believe; and 2) that when we believe and are thankful for what we want, we help to manifest it – even before it has come into our life! Athletes use these principles when they visualize themselves doing everything "right" and winning the big game. So whatever you want in your life, be thankful for it already and cultivate the feeling of already having it.

I enjoy sharing Young Living Essential Oils that correspond to my blog subject. Yes, there is a blend called Gratitude! I also like these: Abundance, Awaken, Believe, DreamCatcher, Envision, MagnifyYour Purpose, Motivation, Surrender, Oola Balance and Grow.

Maybe one of these oils can provide the necessary boost to help you achieve your dreams, too!

Unusual Ways to use Essential Oils

When it comes to using your essential oils, have you tried thinking outside the box? This month I'd like to share some uses for Young Living essential oils that you may not have thought of.

Lavender
·         House plants love Lavender! Add it to the water when you mist them. You can also put a few drops directly on the soil or, for cut flowers, add to the water and watch them perk up!

Lemon
·         Instead of a chemical product, use Lemon oil to remove "goo."
·         Use one drop of Lemon oil morning and night on corns, calluses and bunions.

Peppermint
·         Use Peppermint oil to stop a hot flash by applying to the back of your neck. (It’s even easier if you convert the bottle to a roll-on with an AromaGlide roller fitment!)

Thieves and Purification
·         Put a drop of Thieves blend on your toothbrush before your toothpaste. (Note: Young Living also has several non-fluoride toothpastes based on the Thieves blend.)
·         Use Thieves Household Cleaner, diluted as directed, to clean fruits and vegetables. Spray on, rub thoroughly, and rinse with water.
·         Put a few drops of Purification or Thieves on a cotton ball and place in air vents to help purify the air and add a clean scent.
·         Add 50 drops of Purification to a gallon of paint to eliminate the odor.
·         Use Purification to help heal cold sores.

Geranium
·         Geranium is great for shrinking pimples.

Joy
·         Try Joy to help overcome feelings of grief or depression.

Other great uses
Add empty oil bottles to a bath. (Remove the lid and stopper and add all pieces.)

Rub tired feet with a little PanAway, Aroma Siez or Deep Relief, then pull on socks and they'll feel great in the morning!

Many oils can be used when cooking or baking. (I only recommend Young Living oils, especially for this use, because they are pure, therapeutic grade.)

Let me know your favorite ways to use essential oils – either email me or share them on my Facebook page!!
