2013 Young Living Essential Oils Convention

Me with my good friend and mentor, Julie Ferguson

The theme at this year’s Young Living convention in Salt Lake City was BELIEVE. Think about it – to manifest, you must first BELIEVE. This idea was emphasized throughout the convention by the introduction of new products and a line-up of excellent keynote speakers.

Several new products were introduced, starting with a reformulated Believe essential oil blend. It now includes Idaho Blue Spruce (which is proving to be very effective when used to help release the trauma behind emotional issues).

Other new or improved items include:

·         Stress Away oil blend, which is now available in bottles as well as roll-ons;
·         Sample packets of the five most popular oils: Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Thieves, and Peace & Calming;
·         Two new blends developed to use with "Oola: Find Balance in an Unbalanced World," by Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl, Oola Grow and Oola Balance;
·         Thieves AromaBright toothpaste and improved Thieves dental floss;
·         Slique Bars* (nutritious snack) ;
·         Exotic Oils Collection*: Hong Kuai and Xiang Mao/Taiwan; Yuzu/Japan; Amazonian Ylang Ylang and Plectranthus Oregano/Ecuador; Micromeria/Israel; and Biblical Sweet Myrrh/Arabia; and
·         Ningia Nitro,* an all-natural, energy-type drink for cognitive fitness that increases focus, acuity, and performance.
See all of the new convention products here.
         *Available at convention only for now.

The fabulous speakers included:

·   D. Gary Young, ND, founder of Young Living;
·   Darren Hardy, author and publisher of Success magazine;
·   Wayne Dyer, PhD (I was fortunate to receive a "transcript" of Dr. Dyer's presentation – click here to read it courtesy of a fellow convention attendee.); and
·   Actor/author Clint Walker, who shared his secrets of vitality at age 86, which includes many Young Living products.

Every year the convention seems better than ever! If you would like more information about the products or how to attend the next convention, please contact me. You can also visit my Young Living website at https://www.youngliving.org/joycestephens.

Using Essential Oils for Headaches

Do you suffer from headaches? If so, Young Living's M-Grain essential oil blend can help with both general headaches and migraine headaches. It contains Marjoram, Lavender, Peppermint, Basil, Roman Chamomile, and Helichrysum.

Both anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic, M-Grain blend relieves pain and tension and promotes relaxation.

M-Grain can be used either neat or diluted with V-6 mixing oil. Gently massage into the base of the skull, forehead, temples, shoulders and back. For deeper penetration, use with a warm compress. You can also diffuse the oil or place a drop or two on your palms and inhale.

Other YL blends to try for headaches include Brain Power, Clarity, Relieve It, PanAway, and Deep Relief.

Single oils include Peppermint (my favorite), Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Idaho Tansy, Basil, Spearmint, Bergamot, Lemongrass or Lemon, and Rosemary.

Headaches can have many different causes, including hormone or sugar imbalances, shortage of oxygen, stress, sinus issues, structural misalignments, and blood pressure concerns. For specific issues, it may be best to create a customized formula, which I will be happy to do for you based on your specific needs.

Young Living Essential Oils for Lyme Disease

Since Lyme disease is a viral infection, essential oils that are highly anti-viral can be helpful in conjunction with treatment prescribed by your doctor.

Single oils to try include Thyme, Clove, Melissa, Oregano, Myrrh, Eucalyptus Blue, and Ocotea.

Young Living recommended blends include PanAway, Melrose, Thieves, and Exodus II.

To use:
·         Apply 1-2 drops neat or diluted to the back of the neck, as desired.
·         Massage 2-4 drops on the soles of the feet before bedtime.
·         Diffuse your choice of oils for 1/2 hour every 4-6 hours.

Young Living supplements include essential oils. One of my favorites is Inner Defense, a natural "anti-biotic" that is also anti-viral. And try Detoxzyme. You can also ingest the recommended oils (Young Living only, please!) in a capsule or by adding to food.

In case of a tick bite, this helpful regimen comes from an older version of the Essential Oils Desk Reference: Apply Thyme oil to tick to loosen from skin. Apply Thieves or Purification on site to detoxify wound. Apply 1 drop Peppermint every 5 minutes for 50 minutes to reduce pain and infection.

I also recommend Raindrop Treatments.

Essential Oils and Hay Fever

With all the pollen in the air, let's talk about how essential oils can help with hay fever symptoms. (These suggestions may also help if you are sensitive to animal hair, feathers or dust mites.)

Usage:
Diffuse your choice of oils for a 1/2 hour every 2 hours or as desired. At night, set the timer on your diffuser.

No diffuser? Put 2-3 drops in your hands and rub them together, cup your hands over your nose and inhale as needed. Or put 2-3 drops on a cotton ball and place in an air vent in your house, car or hotel room.

You may also apply oils topically, avoiding the eye areas. Oils can always be applied to the soles of the feet, and will travel through the body within 20 minutes; using the Vita-Flex method can enhance the results.

Please contact me for more information or to determine the best oils for your needs.

March Madness

If you live in my area (Raleigh, NC), I don't have to explain "March Madness" to you. We are serious about ACC basketball, and everyone has a favorite team. (Go Wolfpack!!) The ACC tournament starts today and the Madness will continue until the NCAA has a winner.

However, for me, the madness began earlier, with one challenge after another. Car problems – yes, plural; clients who missed appointments; the loss of a very dear friend; and feeling so far behind that I just couldn't catch up. Thankfully, I had a wonderful, relaxed week in Sedona the last week of February to "power up."

Times like these are when I especially turn to Young Living essential oils. I not only use them myself, but I give them away like candy on Halloween since everyone around me is also dealing with their own stressful situations.

Don't underestimate their power. To calm frazzled nerves, try Peace & Calming, Tranquil, or Stress Away blends. Or try Lavender (the Old Faithful) for whatever ails you. Valor is good to use every day to restore a sense of balance. I've even pulled out some old friends I haven’t used in a while: Grounding, Hope, Harmony and Motivation, all of which helped me overcome feelings of being overwhelmed.

Some of the madness should calm down after this Sunday, when Mercury turns direct (yea!). Until then, I will keep "anointing" myself and everyone else with whatever it takes!

Happy Valentine's Day!

February is the perfect time to discuss essential oils and blends that can enhance your romantic life.

Two of my favorite Young Living blends to promote romantic feelings are Sensation and Joy. Sensation blends Ylang Ylang, Rosewood, and Jasmine; Joy contains these oils plus a few others, including Rose. Use as perfume, diffuse, or add to bath water.

Aromas such as Rose and Jasmine have been used for thousands of years to attract the opposite sex and to create a romantic atmosphere. Modern research shows that the emotional center of the brain responds to some essential oils, which may explain their potential to help overcome issues such as impotence or frigidity. For these specific conditions, try:

Impotence: Ylang YlangGoldenrodJasmineMyrrh, and Frankincense. Inhale, add to baths, or apply topically (avoiding sensitive skin areas). You may also want to try Young Living supplements such as EndoGize and Prostate Health.

Frigidity: LemongrassJasmineRoseFrankincenseGeraniumYlang Ylang, and Clary Sage. Or try these blends: JoySensationValor, and Lady Sclareol. Inhale, diffuse, or add to baths.

I hope you enjoy exploring Young Living essential oils and blends for a unique experience!
